Hydration effect with water-in-oil formulations
Healthy skin contains a certain amount of moisture guaranteeing that it can fulfil a broad spectrum of functions.
Healthy skin is kept well hydrated by lipids and the so-called ‘NMF’ (Natural Moisturisung Factor). Dardia® provides two principle ways of moisturising the skin and substituting the diseased natural moisturising process:
- Dardia®´s formulation type is a so-called ‘water-in-oil emulsion’ respectively ‘water-free ointment’. It works by adding a layer of lipids to the skin which helps to retain the moisture coming from the lower layer of skin. This is called 'occlusion effect'. See: The Dardia® Family - Care for All Body Areas
- Dardia® contains pharmaceutically reliable moisturising factors (lactate, glycerin, and urea) which help keep the moisture in the skin. See: Ingredients of Dardia®

Clinical trials demonstrated that all Dardia® formulations have a fast and long-lasting hydration effect, even after 24 hours with only one application. See: Clinical tests
Excellent skin tolerance
People with dry and sensitive skin are particularly prone to skin diseases, as well as allergic reactions to ingredients found in many skincare products. This most commonly occurs with fragrances or other ‘cosmetic frills’. Preservatives, colorants and lanolin are also often liable to cause an allergic reaction.
To avoid these problems, Dardia® takes the following precautions:
- Minimum number of ingredients necessary (e.g. 6 in Dardia® Lipo Ointment)
- No perfumes or ingredients that might cause allergic skin reactions
- Only highly purified ingredients
- Manufactured according to pharmaceutical standards
- Stringent clinical testing for effectiveness and safety according to standards used in pharmaceutical testing.
Dermatologists often observe skin reactions caused by chemicals patients are exposed to at work, and allergies or irritations triggered by substances contained in cosmetic products. The advantage of Dardia® is that it only uses ingredients which are very well tolerated, both individually and when combined together in the formulation.
Substances which often cause allergies on the skin are listed in the allergen hitlists. See an example: allergen hitlist
