How to handle dry and sensitive skin
- Avoid bathing or showering every day - washing your armpits and groin may be sufficient. Excessive bathing removes the natural lipids which retain moisture in the skin.
- Showering is preferred, with tepid water and a good quality shower product. Do not use hot water as this can remove lipids.
- Do not use soap - apply a synthetic cleanser with a slightly acid pH instead (this helps to maintain the skin’s normal pH at around 5.4).
- Dry carefully, patting with a towel rather than rubbing as this can damage dry and sensitive skin.
- Apply Dardia® Lipo Milk to the body immediately after a shower or bath as this helps to keep the moisture in.
- Apply Dardia® Lipo Ointment to very dry areas especially on the hands, elbows and feet before going to bed.
- Apply Dardia® Lipo Cream to the face before going to bed, in this way the active moisturisers can be absorbed into the upper skin layers while you sleep.
- Avoid using skin products containing alcohol as they dry out the skin.
Lifestyle measures
- Do not expose your skin to strong sunlight.
- Try not to spend prolonged periods in a room with air conditioning. If you cannot avoid this pay particular attention to skin care in the morning and perhaps apply a moisturiser repeatedly during the day (also applies if living in a dry climate, especially during winter).
- Do not immerse yourself in water for long periods.
- Reduce or avoid cigarettes, alcohol and too much coffee.
- Drink sufficient water.
